Restoring hope to Malawi's most vulnerable - thanks to our donors!

Philomena is one of our three Rehabilitation technicians.  She met Emmanuel when he was just four months old.  He had a rather rough start to life with Cerebral Palsy, Seizure Disorder and Malnutrition.  When he started coming for therapy he could not do anything for himself.  He was taught how to sit by himself.  He graduated to our Level Two Group where children are taught how to crawl, stand and walk.  Now he is able to crawl around the room, stand up at a box and walk with a walking frame by himself!  In October this year Emmanuel graduated from the Children’s Rehabilitation Program to our Preschool! Fumbani is another one of our Rehabilitation Technicians.  Earlier this year he met Joshua,  a four month old with Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida and Aubrey, a nine month old boy with Cerebral Palsy.  When these two boys started coming for therapy they did not even have head control, something most babies achieve by three months of age.  They started therapy in our Level One Group which teaches children how to gain head control, to sit and to roll.  They came for therapy three times a week with their moms  After two months of intensive therapy both Joshua and Aubrey had gained head control and mastered sitting on their own.  They have now graduated to Level Two where they continue therapy working on crawling, standing and walking.
